A green Mother Christmas will be giving out tips for a more eco-friendly New Year at a cycle parade on Sunday.
Whether she will arrive on a sleigh or a bicycle remains to be seen, but the alternative festive figurehead will be the star attraction of the event, which will start outside Chipping Barnet library at 12pm.
Organised by Barnet Green Party, the event will highlight the party’s policy to promote cycling, walking and public transport as alternatives to driving.
High Barnet council candidate Phil Fletcher, who will be a candidate in the next Barnet borough council elections said: "Cycling has been shabbily treated for too long in Barnet and we Greens wish to change that.
"For years, neighbouring boroughs like Haringey and Enfield have spent as much as ten times on cycling as Barnet has."
