A WOMAN is in hospital in a critical condition with a head injury after reports that she fell out of a moving taxi in Lewisham Road in Blackheath.

Police were called at 5.35 this morning (December 13) to reports of a woman injured in Lewisham Road and she was flown to King's College Hospital by London Air Ambulance staff.

Lewisham Road was closed from around 6am with all lanes reopened just after 9am but with slow traffic remaining on A2 Shooters Hill Road to B212 Stratheden Road.

London Ambulance Service also sent a single responder in a car, a duty officer, an ambulance crew to the scene after being called at around 5.30am.

A Met spokeswoman said: “Police were called at approx 0535hrs on Friday, 13 December to reports of a woman injured in Lewisham Road, Blackheath.

“At this early stage it is believed the woman received her injuries after falling from a moving taxi.

“The taxi stopped at the scene.

“LAS attended the scene and the woman has been taken to a south London hospital for treatment to her injuries. She remains there in a critical condition.”

Officers from Greenwich and the Met’s traffic unit are at the scene. No arrests have been made.”
