Girl guides from East Molesey have received the highest accolade in guiding.

After 12 months of organising guide evenings, raising money for charity and learning valuable new skills such as languages, 14-year-old Emma Duncan, Nicola Evans and Dharma Carlin have completed the Baden Powell Challenge.

The girls all had to complete 10 challenges to qualify for the prestigious award. Emma completed a 46-mile sponsored row and volunteered to help with a rainbow unit, Nicola organised a fundraiser for children in Africa and Dharma made all the guides order Italian food in Italian.

Guide leader Jacqui Biggs said she was delighted with the girls’ achievements: “We feel the girls have developed brilliant leadership skills for the future.”
