Winners of a London youth award were given a second cause for celebration at an awards evening.

Eight talented young people from the borough were among 85 people from 16 areas across London and Essex to be presented with Jack Petchey Achievement Awards.

Nominated by peers, the medallions were given to the stars on top of their initial prize of a certificate and a cheque for £200.

In addition to the young achievers, some adults were given leaders awards.

Workers at the Youth Zone in Fore Street, Edmonton were amongst the winners.

Another Enfield victor was Harry King, 15, who attends the youth club.

Co-ordinator at the youth club, Dominique Samy, spoke about how much Mr King had changed during his time at the club.

She said: “Harry is perhaps the most transformed young person at the youth club. When he first came, he was withdrawn and shy and is now a positive member of the group who engages well with all the other group members and youth leaders.”

Other winners from Enfield included:

Tyrell Wilson
Matthew Wambugu
Brian Wooding
Eleasha Kintu
Nana Yeboah
Leyla Mustafa
Zachariah Yiallouris
