A community choir has raised £800 for a charity founded in memory of a girl killed by a falling tree.

Soundbytes Choir held a candlelit concert at Christ Church (United Reformed) in Epsom Road, Leatherhead, in aid of Rianna’s Fund on Friday.

The children’s charity was established after a pine tree crushed Rianna Davenport, 8, at West Ashtead Primary School, Ashtead, in 2003.

This Is Local London:

It supports many children’s projects including a home for orphans in Kenya, a school in Uganda and a children’s home in India.

At Soundbytes, Lisa Robathan has stood in as musical director while Hazel Hannam was on maternity leave.

Ms Robathan said: "I was thrilled when Hazel asked me to stand in during her maternity leave, and I've thoroughly enjoyed our 10 weeks together. The choir has been so welcoming and helpful."
