TWELVE Greenwich Market traders have given new meaning to the phrase "displaying your wares" - by getting naked for a saucy calendar.

A dozen sexy stallholders stripped for their 2014 calendar, which aims to raise a smile while also raising money for male cancer charity Orchid.

And market workers Angela Britton and Jenni Redstone, who dreamed up the idea, said there weren't enough months in the year to fit in every trader who wanted to take part.

Ms Britton, who sells her own artwork on the market's Daily Dream stall and designed the calendar, said: "It was actually quite amazingly positive. We had more men than we actually fit in the calendar. I've never seen anyone queue to be in a calendar before.

"Some of the models wanted to pose because cancer is afflicting members of their own families. They are all photographed on their own stalls whether they sell silver plate, aprons, or hand-made clocks. It's amazing what a rifle, cactus or bus blind can conceal."

Snaps were taken by market photographer Sam Warr, who screened off the stalls to avoid prying eyes while traders slipped off their clothes.

Ms Britton said: "I think all the boys just felt relaxed because our photographer made them all feel that way from start to finish."

Frank Whitford, who has run the Plain Bear stall for one year selling t-shirts and sweatshirts, has already signed three calendars for his fans after the products went on sale this month.

He said: "I'm personally comfortable with it.  There was something covering my stall but I had to walk outside of it and there was a very cold breeze."

Mr Whitford added: "It's been really good, very positive and there's been a real sense of community about it, a lot of community spirit."

News Shopper: The calendar is on sale now

Calendars are £10, with all money going to Orchid.
