Gang sentenced for drink-fuelled Tube attack on Waltham Forest man
Four thugs who left their victim with a dislocated shoulder in a drink-fuelled assault on a Tube train have been sentenced.
The 26-year-old man, from Waltham Forest, also suffered bruising to the head and face.
He was travelling on an eastbound Central Line train when the group boarded the carriage at Tottenham Court Road.
During the journey one of the four grabbed the victim around the throat, pushing him off his seat onto the floor.
The rest of the group then began to hit and kick victim before fleeing at Bank station.
Dylan Browne, 17, of Overton Drive in Romford, and Curtis O’Keefe, 17, of Barley Lane in Goodmayes, were both given a 12-month detention and training order.
Danny O’Keefe, 19, of Barley Lane in Goodmayes, was sentenced to 18 months in a young offenders' institute.
Lee Gavin, 20, of Hazel Close, Basildon, was sentenced to 21 months in a young offenders' institute.
The four were sentenced at Blackfriars Crown Court on November 28.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Dick Mortimer of the British Transport Police, said: “The victim stood absolutely no chance of defending himself against a pack of individuals who randomly targeted him.
“The behaviour of this group, who were influenced by alcohol, was completely unacceptable.
“I hope their sentences send a clear message that violence will not be tolerated on the London Underground network.”
