An Epsom optician has collected 65 gift filled shoe boxes for children in the developing world.
Specsavers on High Street started the collection on November 1 and the boxes have been filled with an array of gifts, including toys, books, pens and sweets.
The boxes will be sent to orphans and vulnerable children living in difficult circumstances abroad, as part of Operation Christmas Child.
The store also kicked off Christmas proceedings with a fancy dress day when staff dug out their festive jumpers and other Christmas themed costumes to decorate the store ready for the festive season.
Glen MacGregor, Specsavers Epsom store director, says: “The Christmas shoe box appeal is a lovely idea and a great way to share the festive spirit with those who are less fortunate, particularly children who may not even be aware that it is Christmas.
"We’d like to thank our customers for anything they are able to donate.”
Operation Christmas Child is the largest children's Christmas project in the world, run by the Christian charity Samaritan's Purse.
