Traveller prevention measures to be installed in Roundshaw

This Is Local London: Travellers left tonnes of rubbish in Roundshaw Park earlier this year Travellers left tonnes of rubbish in Roundshaw Park earlier this year

Travellers will be prevented from setting up illegal camps on a beauty spot by 1.5m high mounds of earth.

A 1.5m high soil bund is being installed around Roundshaw Park after repeated traveller incursions over the summer.

Sutton Council has started building the measure and hopes to have it finished before Christmas, depending on the weather.

Bunds have already been installed in other parks in the borough including Beddington Park in response to repeated traveller invasions.

Despite living some 6000 miles away have having an extremely bad memory, ~~I~~ can remember in August reading of travellers who were found bulldozing Offa's Dyke on land which they had "purchased." How long would a determined dozer operator take to go through a 1.5m earth mound?

Dennis, I think the idea would be that they would be forcing entry and therefore breaking the law if they bulldozed their way in. Correct me if i'm wrong anyone. Mind you, I understand some such people were repeatedly fly-tipping in the area in broad daylight in the summer, and neither the council nor the police felt moved to lift a finger....

Don't know why the council dont block their vans inside the camps with those long concrete barriers.. If they cant get their vans out, then they can not make money and flytip. Block them in, not out.

They cut the padlock and bypassed the bunds in Beddington Park and no one got done for forced entry. Authorities and justice system seem mori-BUND in dealing with these space-invading parasites.

"repeated traveller invasions"? makes the travellers sound like Aliens Invaders.
After the Roms, eastern europeans, illegal immigrants, muslims, unemployed etc, etc.
Soon, we will have to wear a yellow star on our clothes.
