A 53-year-old who stole 23 jars of coffee, 30 chocolate bars, 120 packets of chewing gum has been sentenced.
Abdulhamid Eldow, of Perth Road in Leyton, faced four separate charges of theft over a period of two months earlier this year.
Between September and November, he stole 23 jars of coffee and four packets of steak worth £84, medication worth £122.43, 21 chocolate bars worth £58.70 and 120 packets of chewing gum worth £50.40.
The items were all stolen from different supermarkets in Waltham Forest and surrounding boroughs.
At Thames Magistrates' Court he was placed under an electronically monitored curfew, during which he must remain at his home between 8pm and 6am daily for a period of 30 days.
He was also ordered to participate in education and training for 10 days and drug dependency rehabilitation for nine months.
