A 15-year-old girl has been arrested following the murder of a teenager in Palmers Green.

Joshua Folkes, 17, from Enfield, suffered stab wounds during an attack in Bowes Road in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police were called to the scene at 12.45am alongside the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance.

But he was pronounced dead at the scene at about 1.26am.

His next of kin have been informed and police have launched a murder investigation into his death.

A post-mortem examination held yesterday at Haringey Mortuary gave his cause of death as a stab would to the chest.

Friends yesterday paid tribute to the teenager, who was described as "a funny and charming guy".

A 15-year-old girl was arrested in connection with the investigation this morning in the Enfield area and she remains in custody at a north London police station.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Wall, of the Metropolitan Police's Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "We are appealing to the local community about the murder of a boy who was loved by his family. His death has left them devastated.

"We are appealing to Josh's friends and the community to come forward and help us find his killers. Someone out there must know who is responsible for this murder."
