The jury in the inquest into the death of Mark Duggan visited the scene where he was shot dead by police officers as the case nears its end.

Coroner Keith Cutler and the jurors visited Ferry Lane, Tottenham, yesterday as part of proceedings to establish the truth about what happened when the 29-year-old was killed on August 4, 2011.

Mr Duggan was shot by a police marksman, known as V53, after a taxi he was travelling in was stopped during a intelligence-led police operation to tackle gun crime.

V53 claimed he opened fire in self-defence after he was Mr Duggan pointing a gun at him.

However, after Mr Duggan had been shot no gun was found on his person.

A gun was later found wrapped in a dark sock between 10ft and 20ft away from the scene where the shooting took place.

It was a working weapon and had one bullet in the magazine.

The scene of the shooting was recreated and the jury for the last time now that the jury had heard most of the evidence due to be presented during the inquest.

Today will be the last day where witness testimony is heard ahead of the summing up by the Coroner on Thursday, December 5.

It could then take up to a week for the jury to given their verdict on whether or the use of lethal force by police officers was absolutely necessary.

Mr Duggan’s death sparked riots in Tottenham which spread to the rest of the country in August 2011.

The inquest continues.
