Survivors of domestic abuse from Kingston were recognised for their mentoring contribution by Mayor of London Boris Johnson last week.
Kingston’s Butterfly Project which provides support to victims of domestic violence was awarded the Mentoring and Coaching Award in the Team London Awards on Monday, November 25.
The project which has been headed up by three women who are survivors of domestic abuse, were rewarded for their volunteer work to the service.
Nuria de Miguel, who nominated them, said: “It is not possible to describe the amazing help they are providing to these women in the local community. I am delighted they have been awarded this prize.”
The annual Team London Awards are given to London borough volunteers in recognition of their efforts in mentoring young people, transforming green spaces, working with offenders, helping the elderly and leading inspirational sports programmes.
