Residents have reported rubbish being left uncollected for weeks on end.

Valerie Tate, of Peaslake Court, Egmont Road, Sutton, has reported the problem to the council over the last two weeks.

Your Local Guardian:

She claims that for three weeks rubbish has remained uncollected and no one has got back to her about the issue.

The cupboard housing the bins is now full and bin bags are being put outside and ripped open by foxes.

Rubbish is strewn all over the driveway and around the gardens at the back of the flats.

Councillor Jill Whitehead, chairwoman of the environment and neighbourhoods committee, said:

“We have not been able to collect refuse at Peaslake Court because vehicles have been blocking the road’s entrance. Our refuse vehicle was first blocked by vans on November 19, and then tried twice more that week only to be blocked by parked cars. The team is making another attempt today.

“We always make repeated attempts to collect rubbish if we are prevented from doing so in the first instance, and aim to collect rubbish within two working days if notified by residents.

“Although access has been the problem here, Peaslake Court only has two large euro bins to cater for 17 flats, which is not enough for accommodation of this size.  Responsibility for the provision of bins lies with the court’s managing agent and we would be happy to work with them to improve access and increase the provision of bins.”
