A primary school has announced it raised more than £15,000 after completing a charity walk.

More than 300 girls aged four to 11 from North London Collegiate School took part in the World Wide Walk last month, walking circuits of the school’s running track to complete the walk to mark the UN’s International Day of the Girl.

The girls from the school in Cannons Drive joined pupils from 36 others across the UK in the walk, which combined covered 40,075km, the same distance as the circumference of the earth, to raise £250,000.

Since then there have been other fund raising events, and with all the money now collected and counted the school has raised a grand total of £15,588.85 for charity Plan UK.

The money will go towards projects around the world helping millions of girls of all ages stay in school and complete their education.
