FOUR heroic young students from a Sidcup school rushed to help a shopper after she collapsed and started coughing up blood in a convenience store.

Cleeve Park School teenagers Zac Thompson, 14, Alfie Andina, 14, Billy Chaplin, 14, and Jennifer Wilson, 13, were in the Lewis Road Premier Store when the lady, who was in her 40s, crashed to the ground.

Together they put her into the recovery position and saved her from choking on her own saliva and blood - but they now desperately want to know whether she made a full recovery.

Recalling the incident at around 3.30pm on October 3, Jennifer told News Shopper: "I was about to buy something in the shop and was in front of her.

"She was really pale and kept closing her eyes really slowly.

"When I handed over my money I heard a massive crash.

"I didn’t know what to do so I called Zac in. I noticed that no one caused the ambulance so I called them."

This Is Local London: The woman collapsed in the Lewis Road Premier Store

Alfie, who was outside the shop at the time, said: "I ran in there and turned her on her side.

"She started screaming so I got Zac to help me.

"She had hit her head on the cabinet and was on the floor coughing up blood

"We both put her in the recovery position.

"Billy was asking her questions to see if she was conscious until the ambulance arrived.

"It was scary."

Cleeve Park headteacher Jenny Tyler-Maher says the four students are now desperate to find out how the lady they helped is.

However confidentiality law prevents London Ambulance Service (LAS) from disclosing her details to the worried staff and pupils.

Mrs Tyler-Maher said: "Understandably, the LAS will not give us any details for the lady and our pupils would like to know if she made a full recovery.

"We are very proud of our students and this demonstrates what wonderful young people we have at Cleeve Park who are community minded, proactive and helpful in the face of adversity."

LAS confirmed they were called to Lewis Road after receiving reports of a lady being taken unwell.

An ambulance crew assessed her at the scene but she did not want to be taken to hospital for further treatment.
