The William Morris Gallery has been shortlisted for a London Royal Town Planning Institute award.
The gallery in Forest Road, Walthamstow, is in the running to win the Best Historic Building Management award at a ceremony in February.
Following refurbishments of nearly £4m in 2012, the grade II* listed Georgian building, dating from around 1740, was awarded £100,000 when it won The Art Fund Prize for Museum of the Year 2013 in June.
The gallery is up against the new pavillion portico at the Oval in Kennington, Duke Street Apartments in Mayfair and a heritage housing project in Roehampton.
The venue’s popularity has been growing as visitor numbers have increased sevenfold in recent years.
Around 130,000 people visited in the 12 months since the works were carried out, compared to less than 17,000 in 2007/08.
