X FACTOR: Shock as Gravesend’s Tamera Foster ends up in bottom two
Tamera repeated her audition song, Whitney Houston's 'I Have Nothing', after ending up in the bottom two
GRAVESEND’S Tamera Foster “sang her heart out” to keep her place in The X Factor tonight (Nov 3).
Last night, divas Sam Bailey and Tamera brought disco fever to the show, receiving exceptional comments across the board.
After a tense results show, both are through to next week and mother-of-two Sam, who grew up in Eynsford Road in Bexley Village, is going from strength to stength.
After dancing her way through Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer hit ‘Enough is Enough’, she received a standing ovation from all four judges.
Judges Louis Walsh and Sharon Osborne called hers “the performance of the night”.
Louis said: “I loved the makeover. You have become a yummy mummy now! And that was the vocal performance of the night by a mile.”
Mentor Sharon added: “So proud of you Sam, I loves ya!”
Gary Barlow said: “Sam, as the big ballad singer of the competition I was I was sure tonight you were going to struggle. How wrong was I? What a performance that was.”
Nicole Scherzinger added: “You were so soulful, that was amazing.”
Teen Tamera put her spin on 1978 Rose Royce hit ‘Wishing On A Star’.
Louis said: “Every time I see you, I think star. I think star quality - because you just look like a little diva.
“I think you’re going to go far in the competition if there’s any justice.”
Sharon added: “Tamera, that was a lovely lovely performance, so controlled, so smooth - your voice was like velvet.”
Gary Barlow, who likened Tamera to a Beyonce impersonator last week, had nothing but positives this time.
He said: “Tamera, well done. I think you have really grown up this week and the one thing that performance was, it was truly elegant.”
Mentor Nicole added: “It was so good - it just shows that you can do anything and everything.”
Tamera said after her performance: “I feel so good because that was such a stripped down song. I really put myself into it and I hope that I did it good.”
The controversial flash vote was abolished, so the bottom two acts were revealed tonight after performances by Taylor Swift and former winners Little Mix.
Boyband Kingsland Road ended up with the fewest votes alongside Tamera.
Gary told the two acts: “The public have got this wrong. Both of you don’t deserve to be in the bottom two, you really don’t.”
Tamera repeated Whitney Houston’s ‘I Have Nothing’, a song she originally forgot the words to during her arena audition, to earn her place in next week’s show with only Gary Barlow voting against her to save his own act.
Voting to send Kingsland Road home, Louis said: "I think Tamera sang her heart out."
