Surrey Downs CCG urges residents to take care on fireworks night
12:10pm Sunday 3rd November 2013 in News
Surrey Downs Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is encouraging residents to stay safe and warm this fireworks night.
Residents are advised to avoid handling fireworks altogether and to attend public displays organised by professionals.
Anyone hosting their own fireworks party should ensure they use fireworks that comply with British Standard 7114 or its European equivalent and follow the safety instructions.
Eileen Clark, nurse and head of Clinical Quality said: “Fireworks night is a fun time when the community can join together and enjoy themselves.
"However, fireworks can lead to potential injuries, which are easily avoidable with careful and sensible preparation.
“Many people will spend Fireworks night outside in cold, and sometimes wet, weather conditions so it’s also really important people wrap up warm.”
For all medical emergencies call 999 or for medical advice in a non life-threatening situation call 111.
