Diwali dove switched-on in Harrow town centre
A giant illuminated dove has been switched on to celebrate the Hindu festival of lights Diwali.
The sculpture is suspended 4.5metres above Katie’s Statue in Harrow town centre and was switched on by councillors last night.
The dove was commissioned for Harrow town centre and chosen by the Town Centre management team.
Cabinet member for Business and Enterprise Cllr Kamaljit Chana said: “The dove represents peace, and living in a diverse borough it is fitting as we are all celebrating together and I hope that everyone enjoys the lights while they are here.
“I wish everyone a fantastic Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas.”
The structure, illuminated by 2,500 low energy LED lights, will remain in the town centre throughout the festive season until the New Year.
