One week left to have your say on Morden town centre plans
Residents have just over one week to have their say on a major proposals to redevelop Morden town centre.
A draft planning document encompassing the entire town centre focusing on the bus station was published in October and sets out proposals to completely revamp of the area surrounding the underground station, including Sainsbury's, the bus interchange and London Road shopping.
Merton Council first began consulting on the project in 2008.
Detailed plans for the station are yet to be published but decking, new entrances and car park spaces for staff could all be created along with an open public piazza to the front of the station.
A new shopping hub could be created as well as apartments, hotels and community facilities.
The council hopes regenerating Morden will serve as a catalyst to encourage greater investment in the area by developers.
The consultation will run until November 11 after which the draft planning brief will be amended to create a more detailed masterplan.
A final decision is expected to be made in 2014.
