BUDDING artists created a giant 40-metre mural to brighten the courtyard at a dementia care unit in Stone.
A group of 24 first year artists at North West Kent College, who are all aged between 16 and 25, were involved in the planning and design of the mural at Littlestone’s Continuing Care Unit, in Bow Arrow Lane.
The whole project came to fruition in the space of five weeks, since the students enrolled at the college.
Fine Art Tutor at the college Kate Jenkins said: “The students taken to the project really well and have created a brilliant mural using their existing skills so early on in their course.”
Ward manager at Littlestone’s Mark Amos added: “I only gave them a brief outline of what we wanted and they’ve come up with this wonderful artwork.
“I really do think this will help our patients; the use of vibrant colours teamed with iconic moments in history, are really stimulating for dementia sufferers.”
