Vince Cable backs Teddington tenner campaign
Vince Cable has backed an initiative by independent traders to boost Teddinton’s economy.
Nearly 50 of Teddington’s shops, restaurants and cafes took part in a two week campaign, called the magic tenner, which saw them slash the price of certain products to £10.
The Twickenham MP tweeted his support to the traders, encouraged shoppers to bag a bargain and paid them a visit on Saturday, October 26.
The initiative, organised by Totally Locally Teddington, hopes to encourage residents to shop locally, support independent businesses and in turn the local area.
Initiative owner Tracey Wardhaugh said they were delighted to receive the support and personal visit.
She said: “Dr Cable spoke briefly to the owners of Shambles, La Casa del Habano and Heirloom on the High Street and gave them a chance to voice any concerns such as business rates, footfall as well as talk about the Totally Locally Teddington campaign.”
