Richmond College pupils flying high after circus skills workshop
Circus skills including the aerial cocoon were among the methods taught to BTec dance students at Richmond College last week.
The lucky dance students were visited by elite aerial performance company Upswing on October 24.
The day-long session saw students receive training from artistic director Vicki Amedume on both the aerial cocoon and aerial ring, allowing them to develop new performance techniques.
Dance student Amelia Keane said: “Vicki was absolutely brilliant and taught us lots of useful techniques that helped improve our balance and posture.
“I really enjoyed the challenge of performing above the ground and, along with some of my classmates, I’m now planning to take more workshops with Upswing outside of the college.”
