Renowned cataract surgeon raises £10,000 with golfing prowess
An internationally renowned cataract surgeon turned his hand to golf and raised nearly £10,000 for people with visual disabilities.
Paul Ursell, who works at Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust, is a trustee of SeeAbility, based in Epsom and raised £9,820 at a fundraising tournament recently on the links with the help of his team.
He said: "The work the charity does is outstanding and it was good to be able to help in this way. As satisfying as a hole-in-one."
Jane Hunnable, who organised the inaugural event, said "It is fantastic that Paul was able to bring a team along to help us reach this sum.
"The money raised enables us to offer more of our specialist services to a growing number of people who need them and the quality of life that they bring."
SeeAbility, which counts Lord Sebastian Coe as its president, will be opening a new home in Ashtead next month where five people with complex needs will receive its specialist support.
