Sutton bank worker Jon Corfield completes tough army challenge
A bank worker has completed one of the army’s toughest competitions.
Army reservist Lance Corporal Jon Corfield, 33, from Sutton, took part in Exercise Cambrian Patrol – a challenge over 48 hours in the Welsh Black Mountains.
The computer whiz, more used to working in a London bank, marched 55km and crossed icy rivers carrying kit weighing 60lbs on the two-day patrolling mission earlier this month.
He said: “I work for the Bank of England in central London, making sure the thousands of PCs, laptops, mobile phones work properly.
"I’m used to thousands of people rushing around beside me in the city so it’s nice to get out to a bit of greenery. My family think I’m slightly mad taking on this challenge.”
