Harrow probation officer wins award
A probation officer who has become the 'go-to' man for helping former offenders rebuild their lives has been given an award.
Richard Kilmartin, a St Mungo’s housing advice worker in Harrow, has won a London Probation Trust Inspirational Team Member award for 2013.
Mr Kilmartin has been working for the charity for 15 years and has been in Harrow for the past six, helping offenders looking to rebuild their lives after serving their sentence.
James Novak of the London Probation Trust nominated Mr Kilmartin. He said: “There are many individuals who wish to shout about this man’s remarkable commitment to supporting offenders, meeting their housing needs and ensuring they can successfully reintegrate into the community and not reoffend.
“For over six years, Richard has come to work and has gone the extra mile on behalf of the offenders and of the people he works with.
"He is not just the ‘go-to’ man for housing but offers all kinds of support.”
Mr Kilmartin said: “They are a really good team to work with in Harrow, and it’s great that we’ve built up such a good relationship that really helps us as we do our best to support our clients.”
