Mayor of Harrow lays wreaths to remember the fallen
Primary school pupils joined the Mayor of Harrow for a wreath-laying ceremony to remember the sacrifices of the armed forces.
Mayor Cllr Nana Asante laid wreaths at ten war memorials across to help start the annual Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
The Mayor said: “We must never forget the sacrifices of those brave men and women who gave their lives to protect the freedoms we all enjoy today.
“Through its Poppy Appeal, the Royal British Legion continues to safeguard the welfare, interests and memory of those who have served in the armed forces.
“As first citizen of the borough, I urge all residents to support the 2013 Poppy Appeal in whatever way you can to enable the legion to meet the ever-increasing needs of the active and ex-service community.
“Wear your poppy with pride and give generously to this outstanding cause.”
On November 10 there will be a remembrance Sunday Parade at Harrow War Memorial outside the Civic Centre which will include the Glen Trew Pipe Band.
