Tree planting at Victoria Park to revive oak heritage
A tree planting ceremony will be held at Victoria Park in November as a community group aims to make the park’s oak avenue flourish again.
The Etchingham Friends raised more than £6,000 with the help of residents, the Finchley Society, Manorside School and Rocking Horse Nursery to replant trees beside the Finchley Central park’s north-south path, which runs from Etchingham Park Road and Seymour Road to Long Lane.
The path used to be lined by oaks which were planted by the Finchley Society during the 1960s, but only two remain.
Pupils from Manorside School as well as other donors will plant the trees on Friday, November 8.
