CCTV shots of suspected £10,000 Gravesend jewellery shop robber released
CCTV images of a suspect in a £10,000 Gravesend jewellery shop robbery have been released.
A man reportedly entered Blackwell Jewellers and Pawnbrokers in Gravesend High Street on Wednesday morning and asked that some items be set aside for him.
He then returned at around 2pm and threatened staff with a weapon, believed to be a knife, before leaving with a quantity of jewellery estimated to be worth more than £10,000.
No injuries were reported.
CCTV footage of the suspect has been released and he is described as being of heavy build with dark brown hair and stubble wearing a dark woollen hat, a hoodie and tan-coloured canvas shoes.
Little more than five hours later a robbery at a convenience store in Hill House Road, Dartford, saw officers called at 7.08pm.
Two males reportedly entered the store and stole a quantity of cash after threatening a member of staff with a stick.
Investigating officer, DC Natalie Collin of Kent Police, said: "This incident left staff frightened and shocked.
"They had repeatedly tried to help the offender earlier in the day when he tried to buy some jewellery from them.
"We believe the man in these images has information that could assist us with our enquiries and think he spent a lot of the day in the High Street, so if you saw this man or think you know who it is, don’t hesitate to give us a call."
The robbery occured just five hours before a convenience store in Dartford was targeted.
Anyone with any information is asked to call DC Collin on 01474 366098, quoting crime reference XY/033163/13, or call Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
