Harrow Council anti-fraud team strengthened
Harrow Borough Council has announced it is taking on more anti-fraud staff to help save the authority thousands.
Two more officers will be joining the authority's anti-fraud team to tackle those falsely claiming benefits and other types of support.
It is hoped the appointment will save the council a further £100,000 on top of the £800,000 already saved by the team this year.
Council leader Councillor Susan Hall said: “The recruitment of two new officers is a value for money appointment as it will save taxpayers’ money.
“It is also our duty to catch people who are motivated by greed and believe they can play the system while others pay their fair share.”
There will also be a push by officers to deal with the fraudulent use of disabled blue badges and housing benefits around the borough.
