Fine wines and fun times at Reed's School, Cobham
Taste buds and noses were put to the test in a fundraising event with a difference for Oasis children’s charity.
About 140 guests heightened their senses at a roulette wine tasting evening at Reed’s School on October 12, enjoying a range of fine wines through blind tasting and a quiz, raising £20,000 for the Cobham charity.
The crowd of guests tasted four wines and a port, gambled with roulette chips to indentify the wines and enjoyed a wine-lovers’ quiz.
Lucky roulette winners then used their winnings to bid for a selection of blind wine prizes, which ranged from a magnum of champagne to a cheap and cheerful bottle of plonk.
Simon Wallis, charity prize auctioneer at the event, said: “Oasis is a fantastic cause and one that touches so many people close to us.
“Local families from all walks of life have somewhere to turn to and be able to change their lives for the better with dedicated care, time and professional counselling. I am proud to have helped raise funding for another year.”
Guests also enjoyed a fish and chips supper and an auction, with prizes ranging from family photographic sessions to X Factor live tickets.
