Parents were “blown away” by support for their child, who has a rare brain disorder.
Jade Penny, 23, and Mark Riley, 24 hosted a fundraising event to raise money for physiotherapy treatment for their son Lukas.
The three-year-old has cerebral palsy, a brain disorder that can cause problems with movement, learning and speech.
Mum Jade admitted she was surprised at the sheer number of people who turned up but was extremely grateful.
She said: “I was not expecting to see so many people that I didn’t know. It was a really great night and we were blown away by the support that was shown. We even ran out of raffle tickets because we only bought 300.
“This will go a long way towards helping Lukas with his physiotherapy treatment. I want to thank everyone who came along - we managed to raise £5,000 in five hours, which was extraordinary.”
More than 400 people attended the fundraiser at Enfield Working Men’s Club in Ordnance Road, Enfield Wash, on Saturday, October 12.
The money will be used for specialist physiotherapy at The Bobath Centre in East End Road, Finchley which offers tailored therapy for children with cerebral palsy.
