New music school opens its doors
A new music school had a special guest when it held its grand opening.
Deputy Mayor of Harrow Borough Council Camilla Bath visited the Cedars Youth and Community Centre, in Harrow Weald for the launch of Music Gym yesterday.
The new school will teach children, teenagers and adults of any age contemporary music on guitar, drums and keyboard and will also offer singing lessons.
Cllr Bath said: “This is a great asset to the children and young people of the community and gives them a great chance to learn an instrument.”
The Harrow centre is the second Music Gym after the scheme's launch in Watford two years ago and will soon be offering free taster sessions to the children of Harrow Weald.
Centre manager Steve Williams said: “We have trying to get some sort of drama or music scheme in the centre for some time but it never took off.
“With Music Gym we hope to be able to give some young people in the area, who may be resorting to anti-social behaviour, something else to do and the chance to learn music.”
