Mum's the Word: So important to enjoy every minute with our children - before it's too late
It was only a matter of time before I regressed to my childish self.
The past few mornings I’ve been chilling with my son in his cot, going through flashcards and seeing what we can spot through the window.
It’s been fun and allows us to have quality time together while my daughter has a morning nap.
The more we do together, the more flashbacks I seem to be having.
The other day I was zipping his top up when I remembered having my own jacket zipped up and the exact style of it.
I could see myself running through the park going to see the peacock we would regularly go and feed. Another day we went on the train as a family to visit friends.
It brought me back to when it was so exciting to travel on the bus to go and buy West Indian food with my gran.
I feel like I’m Marty McFly in Back to the Future, going back in the past to relive it once again.
I guess when you’re young you feel like time is slow paced and you live each day as it comes.
If only someone had advised me to try and remember as much as I could, but I guess we need to grow up and move on to make room for the next generation to experience those special moments in their own way.
So that’s why Michael and I want to enjoy every minute with our children even if it means playing piggy back all day, running around the park till we are exhausted and clearing up toys all over the house every night.
At the end of the day, when our children have grown up and start having flashbacks of their own, we want them to have a massive grin on their faces as they recollect the good times.
