Heart, Walton, hosts domestic abuse event
As part of domestic abuse awareness week Elmbridge Community Safety Partnership is running information sessions in Walton.
Officers from the Elmbridge Community Safety Partnership and Surrey Police will be at the Heart, Walton, on October 17, from 11am to 2pm, providing information about domestic abuse.
It is hoped that the campaign will encourage people close to those suffering from domestic abuse to report incidents or suspicions.
The week beginning on Monday, October 14, is aimed at those suffering domestic abuse, raising awareness of the issue and promoting early intervention.
Councillor Christine Cross, portfolio holder for community development, said: “This week raises awareness of the very important issue of domestic abuse.
“The message is simple - if you suspect someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, make a difference encourage them to contact the support services who are there to help them.”
The week also marks the 10th anniversary of the north Surrey domestic abuse service, which supports residents in Elmbridge, Epsom and Spelthorne.
