A Weybridge restaurant could be fined £30,000 after three men were found working there illegally.
Home Office immigration enforcement officers visited Shanti Tandoori in Queens Road at 8.45pm on Friday, October 4, after receiving information some workers may not have the right to work in the UK.
Three Bangladeshi men were arrested after two, a 50-year-old and a 56-year-old, entered the country illegally and a 29-year-old had overstayed his visa.
All three workers were taken to immigration detention awaiting deportation.
The restaurant was served a notice warning saying it could be fined up to £10,000 per illegal worker found, unless it can provide proof the correct right-to-work checks were done.
Paul Smith, from the Thames Valley and Surrey Home Office Immigration Enforcement team, said: “The message to employers in Surrey who choose to use illegal labour is clear. We will catch you and you will face a heavy penalty.
“Illegal working has a negative impact on communities. It defrauds the taxpayer, undercuts honest employers and cheats legitimate job seekers out of employment opportunities.
“I would urge members of the public with information about suspected immigration abuse to get in touch.”
Last month, four people were found working illegally at La Orient in High Street, Esher, with three of them facing removal from the country.
