Golf day raises thousands for St Luke's Hospice
A charity golf day raised more than £5,000 for a hospice charity as well as thousands for other good causes.
More than 150 people joined together at Sandy Lodge Gold Course to raise more than £12,000 for four charities, including St Luke’s Hospice.
The event earlier this year was organised by vice captain of Sandy Lodge, Manu Radia, and the cheques for the chosen charities were handed over at gala dinner last week.
Mr Radia said: “The local community is often not aware of how much the golf clubs are part of the local scene.
“It is a tradition of Sandy Lodge and other golf clubs in the county to organise fundraising events to raise thousands of pounds every year for local charities.
“I wanted to help small local charities because they are often overlooked. They are doing wonderful work in helping the less fortunate in our society.”
St Luke’s, based in Kenton and looks after those with cancer and serious illness, received a total of £5,751.
