Pooches and their owners are being asked to put their best paw forward and go for walkies to help raise funds for Woking and Sam Beare Hospices.

The Paws in the Park event, a one-mile dog walk, will be held for a second year at Brooklands Community Park on October 13.

Cookie, a shih tzu cross breed, and her owners, Charlie Carver, 12, and her mother, took part in the walk last year and were looking forward to getting involved again this year.

Charlie’s mother, Ruth Carver, said: “It’s actually my daughter’s dog, so I’m just accompanying her, but that’s the great thing about this event, because it’s something you can do with your family and friends.

“I think it’s really important to support your local community and it’s a good way for my daughter to get involved too and do something for others, and not just herself.”

Every dog who completes the walk will receive a certificate and there will also be a best in show competition, dog tombola and refreshments.
