Harrow Borough Council strengthens support for military families
Links between the council and military to help support those in the armed forces were confirmed with a ceremony this week.
Harrow Borough Council signed the Armed Forces Community Covenant, in which it pledges to provide better support for members of the military, their families and veterans in the borough, at a ceremony on Tuesday.
The covenant provides stronger ties between the council and the armed forced such as greater as greater access to housing, transport, health and childcare.
Council leader Councillor Susan Hall: "The covenant was signed on behalf of everyone in Harrow, and represents our respect and recognition to the brave men and women in our Armed Forces.
“It also demonstrates our commitment to continuing our collaboration and looking at how we can work more closely with our armed forces in the future.”
Mayor of Harrow Nana Asante said: “It is important that this symbolic partnership signing does not become another piece of paper but that we hold each other accountable and give our armed forces the support they deserve.”
