Bromley parents lack first aid skills, St John Ambulance says
MOST parents in Bromley lack the skills necessary to save their child in the event of a life threatening accident, according to recently released figures.
St John Ambulance says 71 per cent of parents in the borough lack basic life saving skills.
To try and slash this figure the first aid charity has released a campaign film where viewers are implored to learn how to save a boy who has fallen out of a tree.
Regional director of London St John Ambulance Len Bamber said: “It’s devastating to find three quarters of parents in Bromley wouldn’t have the first aid confidence to save their own child’s life.
“And it’s not just parents.
“Nearly two-fifths of Londoners admit it would take something as severe as the death of a loved one to make them learn first aid.”
