Bradley Wiggins-shaped sausage defeated by Victorian penny farthing racer
Bradley Wiggins has lost a sausage challenge.
Surbiton residents voted for their favourite cycle-themed sausage designed by CD Jennings & Sons butchers ahead of Sunday's Trycyclingathon.
‘The Wiggins’ and ‘The First Lady’, a tribute to champion cyclist Eileen Gray, lost out to ‘Happy Jack’, named after John Keen, a penny farthing racer from the 1870s.
The Seething Tricyclingathon takes place tomorrow with vintage era clothing and vintage bikes.
There will be three races starting and finishing at Claremont Gardens, near Waitrose in Surbiton, from 11am with food and entertainment on Sunday, September 15.
The 44 mile ride will set off from Claremont Gardens (next to Waitrose) at 10am, the 10 mile family ride at 11.30am and the five mile vintage ride at 11.45am.
All the riders are due back there around 1pm,
Afterwards there will be music, food and a bar as well as some relieving sports massage for cyclists who feel slightly punctured.
