Countryside event you would be batty to miss
Find out what really goes bump in the night by the commons by joining the Elmbridge Council countryside team’s latest fun countryside event.
This month’s gathering will see you tracking down pipistrelle and daubenton bats at dusk.
You will be guided around the commons by the countryside team’s officer to look out for the bats as they leave their roosts to hunt for prey.
Councillor Jan Fuller, portfolio holder for leisure and culture, says: “We are always looking for new conservation volunteers to maintain the 20 countryside sites around Elmbridge so that they can be fully enjoyed by local residents.
“By joining us as a volunteer, you will be able to take part in many different rewarding activities, based on your interest and abilities.
“In addition to conservation work, the countryside team also organise a programme of free events to help raise awareness of the fantastic wealth of wildlife and scenery we have locally.”
Bat Walk; Horseshoe Clump car park, Portsmouth Road, Esher, KT10 9JQ; September 27, 7pm to 9pm; call 01372 474575 or visit elmbridge.gov.uk/countryside.
