Peas off: Thief throws can at staff during Sidcup shoplifting spree
A THIEF threw a can of peas at a Sidcup shop assistant when he locked him in to try and make him pay.
Samuel Olaleye, 19, repeatedly targeted the Vino Vita store in Sidcup High Street on May 10 and June 15, Bromley Magistrates' Court heard today.
On May 10 he visited the shop up to seven times, stealing drinks and cigarettes, before being verbally abusive to staff and causing £150 damage to stock by flinging glass bottles at the store.
A medical examiner judged him unfit to be interviewed by police as he was thought to be high on drugs.
After being sectioned under the Mental Health Act over the incident and while still on police bail, the resident of Bedons Road, Sidcup, went back to Vino Vita on June 15.
Having stolen a £30 bottle of Martel brandy earlier in the day he threw a can of peas at a shop worker after staff locked him in to try and make him pay.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of theft and one of criminal damage and will be sentenced on October 9.
