New school campus for Battersea after Wandsworth Council planning committee approval
The new campus will be located in Surrey Lane, on the old Salesian College site, and will be the permanent home of the new Saint John Bosco College.
Saint John Bosco, which was formed through the merger of John Paul II and Salesian College in 2011, is currently located on the former John Paul II site in Princes Way, Southfields but will move to its new Battersea home once the new building is ready.
The school will open in time for the 1015/2016 autumn term.
The college currently has 529 pupils but the new campus will be able to support up to 1,300. It will also include a specialist unit to support up to 25 pupils with autism.
Construction-wise, the development will contain a four-storey school building with an outdoor play area as well as a three-storey community building, two residential blocks and two town houses.
The cost of the new facilities will be through the sale of the new homes on the new Surrey Lane site and on the old Princes Way site.
