Fire guts house in The Loning Colindale
A fire tore through a semi-detached house in Colindale destroying its roof and gutting the first floor.
Thirty-five firefighters in six fire engines were called to tackle the blaze in The Loning, Colindale, at 1.50pm yesterday.
It took until 3.37pm before the fire was under control but by that time the roof and the first floor had been gutted. The windows have all been blown out and blackened beams jut from the building showing all that is left of the roof.
A large part of the ground floor was also badly damaged.
Station Manager John Lalor said: "The crews worked very hard to minimise damage to the adjoining house.
"Fortunately no people are involved in the incident."
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the police and the brigade.
