Food business Pepper and Stew, from Harrow, could see sauces on supermarket shelves
A food entrepreneur is in with a chance of having her sauces on the shelves of one of the country’s biggest supermarkets.
Food business Pepper and Stew, based in Harrow, was one of ten start-up companies invited to pitch its product to Sainsbury’s supermarket.
Founder Racquel Mafura created a range of traditional African cooking sauces, spice kits and condiments using recipes inspired by her childhood.
She said: “When I heard about Pitch Up with Sainsbury’s I knew that it would be a really great opportunity and I’m proud to have been invited to pitch.
“My husband and I both grew up on African food and we’re committed to making African cooking more accessible, so I’m excited to have a chance to see our cooking sauces and spices on Sainsbury’s shelves.”
The pair pitched their idea to the supermarket giant yesterday and will find out if they have been successful in the coming weeks.
