Road resurfacing delayed in Langley Park Road, Sutton, until 2014
The resurfacing of a road has been delayed until next year.
Contractors were due to start work in Langley Park Road, Sutton in the coming weeks.
But the work has been put on hold because of the cost of roadworks projects elsewhere in the borough.
In August, new 20mph road signs were painted onto the road only weeks before the road was due to be ripped up, but the council said it knew of the delay before the signs were painted on.
Councillor Jill Whitehead, Sutton Council's environment and neighbourhood committee chairman said: "The resurfacing of Langley Park Road has been put on hold until the new year.
It was therefore decided that in the interests of road safety, speed signs should be painted on the existing surface.
"When the planned work is undertaken the signs will again be repainted to fit in with the resurfaced road."
