A glamorous 30-year-old hairdresser had a close shave while raising money for charity.
Danielle Lucas shaved off her blond locks for Breast Cancer Care in front of 582 people at a special event at The Fountain pub in Station Road, Chingford, on Saturday.
She was inspired to act after her partner’s sister, mother of two small children Gina Ballesteros, was diagnosed with the disease and has now raised £3,729, with a final target of £4,000.
Miss Lucas, of Darby Drive in Waltham Abbey, said: “It was an amazing night from start to finish.
“I was so nervous the whole day I couldn’t concentrate at work.”
“Once I got there I was just buzzing, the atmosphere was amazing.”
Miss Lucas was full of praise for her friend, who could not attend the event as she is undergoing chemotherapy.
“Because she’s got the two children she’s just had to get on and deal with it. She’s amazing really,” she said.
Miss Lucas’s hair will now be donated to the Little Princess charity and turn into a wig for children with cancer.
“Unfortunately my sister-in-law couldn’t be there as she was unwell but the first thing I did was Facetime her on Sunday.
“I hope I have made a child happy that she or he can walk around wearing the wig and I hope that I have raised awareness that cancer hits anyone young or old.
“I never in my wildest dreams think I would raise that much so would love to thank you everyone.”
