Enfield North MP votes against own party on Syria crisis
Enfield North MP Nick de Bois has taken a stand against his own party by opposing military intervention in Syria.
Mr de Bois was among the Conservative rebels who voted against the Government, on a day which saw both Government and Labour motions defeated.
On social media site Twitter last night the MP said: “Have just voted against both the gov motion and the Labour amendment which also supported military intervention in #Syria.”
“The decision to vote against his own party was an extremely difficult decision given all the appalling circumstances #Syriavote.”
This vote comes after Prime Minister David Cameron called for a military response in Syria after a suspected chemical attack in the capital Damascus.
Mr de Bois, who has been Enfield North MP since 2010, says he asked his constituents on their view of the Syria situation by email.
